Kathleen Kim returns to Bayerische Staatsoper in Les contes d’Hoffmann

After a highly-acclaimed debut as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Korean-American soprano Kathleen Kim returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper May 18 – June 8 to sing Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffmann. As Offenbach’s mechanical doll, Kathleen has earned acclaim for the high-flying aria “Les oiseaux dans la charmille” at the Metropolitan Opera and Gran Teatre del Liceu. Of her performance of the role at the Met, Opera News wrote: “Kathleen Kim’s Olympia was distinguished not just by the brilliance of her acuti but by the charm and sparkle of her voice throughout its range.”

Kim stars opposite Giuseppe Filianoti as Hoffmann, John Relyea as all four villains, Tara Erraught as Nicklausse, and Ulrich Reß as Spalanzani in a production directed by Richard Jones and conducted by Emmanuel Villaume.
